Taylor Reid Bonham Palas's ability to refine techniques started in high school at Briarcrest, and carried on at Belmont University where she received her Bachelor's of Fine Art in 2016. She attended Memphis College of Art and was awarded her MFA in Studio Art with an emphasis on drawing and painting. For the past few years, Taylor has reflected on her own memories and crucial experiences in her life to influence her artwork. Struggles with mental health and her personal perspectives on life are portrayed in charcoal or black acrylic on bed sheets through figurative portrayal and the conceptual framework of comparing natural storms and weather to the uncontrollable chaos of anxiety and depression. The creation of this work is to add to the conversation in society of the importance and validity of how people feel and think. Taylor invites the viewer to be more open with their own whirling, anxious thoughts.
